We are extremely excited to announce that this year’s Aboriginal Sounds series will feature 3 unique female voices: Kinnie Starr, Beatrice Deer and Cris Derksen will be performing at Mundial Montreal in November!

kinnieKinnie Starr is an award-winning and internationally renowned rapper, activist, poet and musician who has been performing around the world for more than a decade. Her latest project “Kiss It” explores female perspectives on sexuality through an innovative blend of rap, beats and spoken word pieces.

Beatrice Deer 3

Beatrice Deer
is an award-winning Inuk singer-songwriter who has been making waves across Canada since the release of her debut in 2005. A new album is coming soon!

Cris Derksen
is a multi-instrumentalist composer and performer who has worked with a who’s who of Canadian Aboriginal talent, written music for TV and film, as well as performing at festivals around the world.

This is the second year that we have partnered with Présence Autochtone to present the Aboriginal Sounds Series that highlights the work of artists from Canada’s First Nations communities.

Our partner for this initiative, Présence Autochtone, Canada’s First People’s Festival, is heading into its 24th edition. The festival takes over the downtown core from July 30 to August 5 and features music, film, gastronomy, panels and workshops in downtown Montreal. Full details on the program can be found at
