An annual rendez-vous of world music industry professionals welcoming more than 250 local and international delegates, Mundial Montreal presents on top of its showcasing component a series of conferences tackling hot topics within the World music community, plus targeted networking activities.
The event is honoured to welcome Laura Hassler, founder of Musicians Without Borders for a keynote address on Nov. 16 to discuss successes and challenges of the organization, which aims to use the power of music to bridge divides and connect communities in war torn countries and refugee camps.
Building on this spirit of encouraging productive and relevant discussion, the Aboriginal Sounds series will be supplemented by a conference entitled “Idle No More: How the Industry Can Work with Aboriginal Artists” on Thursday Nov. 17.
