Mundial Montreal has prepared its biggest ending ever! This year, on Friday November 18, we will be hitting 3 of Montreal’s finest stages with a mixed bag of high caliber, internationally-acclaimed artists.
Starting the night off, we are pleased to announce that Montreal-based Iranian-American musical duo Niyaz will present The Fourth Light Project, an immersive amazing visual auditory hallucinatory experience mixing sacred dance and contemporary Iranian electronic music in tribute to the first female Sufi mystic and poet Rabia Al Basri. Taking place at Theatre Outremont, the show starts at 8 p.m.
Next up, we present two big international latino acts making waves: La Yegros of the nu-cumbia movement taking over Latin America and Las Cafeteras, drawing their refreshing sound from the mexican Son Jarocho tradition. They will be performing at le National at 9 p.m.
Rounding out the night, the recently announced show starring a trio of local heroes at Club Soda. Montreal DJ/Producer Poirier will showcase his new project Poirier Migration Soundsystem, with openers Boogat and Sonido Pesao.
The event also features a unique component among industry showcases, the Aboriginal Sounds series, highlighting music from many, many communities and as best described by Sunni Fass from Lotus Festival: “The Aboriginal Sounds series was a great revelation for me. […] when we think of Native Peoples and First Nations in the US it’s a whole different cultural experience, so it was great to see the diversity in North America. […] We tend to think in terms of very traditional more heritage-oriented traditions and presentations and this was just off the charts creative, I loved it.” Click here to read full details.
