ENGAGING CONVERSATION!
A highly personalized annual rendez-vous of world music industry professionals welcoming more than 300 delegates from around the world, Mundial Montreal presents a series of panels and activities designed to stimulate important conversations within the community, as well as provide career development advice.
This year, Mundial is honored to invite 2 special guest speakers!
We welcome our keynote speaker, UK-based manager Stephen Budd, who is also behind the Africa Express project, which links African musicians with British pop musicians for concerts, albums, and more. He will be discussing his work in helping African music gain mainstream recognition around the world.
To complement the session, we will be hosting the North American premiere of The Africa Express, a documentary film about the first train ride of the project, in collaboration with M for Montreal, HUB Montréal and Vues d’Afrique.
We are also looking forward to conversations featuring Californian marketing mastermind Cheryl McEnaney of Real World Records (Peter Gabriel’s label).
Building on this spirit of helping artists cross over into new markets, the Indigenous Sounds series includes a panel titled Idle No More part 2: Indigenizing the Music Industry.
As our mission remains to foster career development opportunities and grow relationships, we return with the Mentor Café presented in collaboration with MROC and Speed Schmoozing activities, giving delegates time for one-on-one conversations to break the ice ahead of the heavy networking throughout the week.
We are proud to be able to offer one of the best ratios of buyers to sellers of any industry event!
WORLD ROUTES NETWORK
WORLD ROUTES NETWORK
Once again, a major feature of Mundial Montreal is the World Routes Network private presenter meetings. These meetings, which attract 100+ buyers from across Canada looking for talent, are a cornerstone of the world music community. Putting an emphasis on cooperation and knowledge sharing, these meetings lead to block-booking results and increased circulation for artists, as well as optimized festivals around the country.
“It’s rare to have face-to-face time with such a large and diverse group of presenters. The opportunity to discuss artists of interest and booking plans for a specific period of time is extremely helpful in making plans for future seasons and identifying shared expenses such as travel, which is often a barrier when presenting larger bands or artists from abroad.”
