Sue Panning is the Festival Director of the Canmore Folk Festival. She has been involved with the festival since 2005 as a volunteer, in administration and with the artistic direction of the festival since 2009. Sue is passionate about music; both listening and playing. The Canmore Folk Festival takes place Heritage Day weekend (usually the first weekend in August) Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We present an eclectic mix of music featuring traditional and contemporary folk, alt-country, blues (typically acoustic blues), roots, world, bluegrass/newgrass and Celtic music on a small scale, family friendly site. We have evening concerts Saturday, Sunday and Monday (18 artists) and workshops/session running simultaneously Sunday and Monday during the day. We also have an off-site pub (3-5 minute walk) where we feature young artists who are a part of the “School of Song” artist mentoring program, local Bow Valley artists and a few up-and-coming artists (1 or 2).
