Mundial Montreal has become the one-stop shop in world music networking in North America. More than 6 delegations will travel into Mundial Montreal to do their business – network, meet the world, and make it happen for their artists.
The world becomes a smaller, friendlier place when professionals meet – face to face. Canadian artists have doors opened for them, courtesy of the diplomatic efforts found at Mundial Montreal. Through numerous inbound and outbound relationships, we have been successful in generating connections between the Canadian industry and the international world music scene.
Leading up to the full unveiling of the lineup, we would like to announce some international artists who will be coming to Montreal this year.
Building on last year’s groundbreaking and successful showcase, Korean Arts Management Services (KAMS) is back once again to support neo-folkloric act Noreum Machi. From Italy, in collaboration with Puglia Sounds, we are pleased to welcome Tarantella party-starters Kalàscima. We are honoured to welcome the musical voice of the Egyptian revolution, Ramy Essam (now based in Sweden), plus the ancient Afro-funk of Ethiopian-Israeli singer AvevA. We are extremely pleased to bring innovative French group Lo’Jo (new album out on September 22). They joined the already announced Rocca (France), winner of the Transatlantic Bridge Prize, plus indigenous artists Emily Wurramara (Australia) and Nive & The Deer Children (Greenland).
Over several years of patient diplomatic efforts we have come to realize a new initiative with the support of Canada Council for the Arts and KAMS (Korean Arts Management Service) as they oversee two delegations travelling to Seoul and Montreal, with artists breaking into new markets at the heart of the cooperation.
Stand by for details forthcoming on all the international travellers!
