The Indigenous music scene in Canada has established itself a major force in the music industry, full of creativity and energy, exploring a huge variety of genres, multidisciplinary work, all while uplifting and celebrating traditions that were for a very long time under institutional attack. The growing community of Indigenous artists, organizers, connectors, media, and industry has been making important moves on activating as a community and supporting from within. As this community develops its capacities and connections, creating support infrastructure, exciting possibilities for an Indigenous futurism emerge. The panelists will discuss this ongoing renaissance, giving a glimpse of what is happening and what is opening up, explore paths for allyship, and share what is coming next.
